New Year’s Eve Gala
The Beta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated has hosted its annual New Year’s Eve celebration for a number of years. Each year the formal event celebration has allowed attendees to enjoy delicious food, drinks, and various forms of entertainment. The New Year’s Eve Gala is also an event that looks to help the community. Each year a portion of the proceeds have gone to scholarships for local high school students looking to further their education. The event begins promptly at 8pm and lasts until 1:30am. Scholarships presented at Hillside High Awards Ceremony by the Bull City Alphas
The Beta Theta Lambda Chapter was well represented at the Hillside High School Awards Ceremony on May 21, 2015. Beta Theta Lambda sponsors multiple $1000 scholarships to students in Durham and Orange Counties who represent high scholastic aptitude, community involvement, and are active within their school community. High schools within the area are contacted by the scholarship committee to promote the scholarship to applicants. The scholarship committee receives and reviews applications to ensure that quality students are considered for the award. The Bull City Alphas participated in multiple events during the weekend of May 15, 2015 that show the aims of our Fraternity. . .Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all Mankind. The Bull City Alphas and The Capital City Alphas, Beta Theta Lambda (Durham, NC) and Phi Lambda (Raleigh, NC) respectively, teamed up for the Garner Road Old School Basketball Tournament on May 15, 2015. The tournament was held at the Garner Road Community Center in Raleigh, NC to help raise money for the community center and programs supported by the center. March for Babies
The Brothers of Beta Theta Lambda participated in the March for Babies in Morrisville, NC on April 25, 2015. Indeed it was a great event for a great cause. The chapter has also raised in excess of $2500. Although it was a cloudy and dreary morning, Beta Theta Lambda as well as other participants were in good spirits coming together for a great cause. Our participation in March for Babies will help provide hope for babies who are born prematurely or sick, and provide families with assistance they need when they have a newborn in the intensive care unit and additional care.
