Andrew Young Social Justice Institute
On Sunday, November 10, 2019, we launched the Andrew Young Social Justice Institute at the St. Joseph AME Church in Durham, led by Senior Pastor and our National Chaplain, Bro. Jonathan Augustine. On the previous night Bro. Young was welcomed to Durham by General President Everett B. Ward, 31st General President Harry E. Johnson, Sr., and Brothers from the Beta Theta Lambda Chapter with a dinner in honor of his 70 years in the fraternity. It was an honor and privilege to be able to take part in this momentous celebration!

Meet and Greet
On Sunday October 27th the Brothers of Beta Theta Lambda will be hosting a meet and greet at Southern High School from 4-6pm. This event is open to the public, so please take this opportunity to come fellowship and learn more about the chapter. Alpha attire is required for Brothers and business attire is required for guests.

Private Movie Screening @ Mount Vernon Baptist
This Friday, September 13, all are invited to the special private screening of I’m Good Bro, a film produced by Charles Crouch and Corbin Coleman that is centered on the struggles of depression and mental health in black men. 95th General Convention
The Beta Theta Lambda Chapter was well represented in “Sphinx City” at the 95th General Convention. A special thanks to all Brothers who were able to attend and participate in a week filled with fun, fellowship, and most importantly, the work of Alpha. We certainly look forward to sharing all of the lessons learned and applying them during our upcoming fraternal year.

BTL Highway Clean-Up
We will be holding our MLK clean-up on Saturday, July 13, at 8:00 am. Brothers are asked to meet and park in the Hardee’s parking lot on 2721 Chapel Hill Rd, Durham, NC 27707. We encourage ALL Brothers, friends, and family to attend and with adequate support we should be able to finish by 10:30 am, before it gets hot!

GTHSGTC-Project Alpha Session 2 Recap
The second GTHSGTC-Project Alpha session of 2018-2019 was a great success. We began the day with a recap of our first session on Goal Setting then followed up with a discussion on sexual health led by our special guest speaker. From there we transitioned to an active discussion on self-esteem where we used various activities to help promote having confidence in oneself and learned how to manage the things about ourselves we aren’t confident in. Project Alpha – GTHSGTC Spring Session
On Saturday April 13, 2019 we will be hosting our next Go To High School Go To College – Project Alpha session on the campus of the University of North Carolina. The topics will be “Time Management to Reach Your Goals” and “Self Esteem and Well Being.” Please be sure to spread the word at local schools, churches, and other establishments so we can have a large turnout of young men eager to learn and have a good time with the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated!
